It's time to hand over the batten with our T7 Demo Mule.
We needed the perfect spec to get our heads around the inner workings of the new chassis.
This is the 150 engined, 6 speed van with all the goodies in relation to luxuries.
We 3d scanned the interior to allow us to build the CAD files to convert these vans.
Consequently it has the first t7 'Nomad Pro' conversion in it.
The van has been used for a few missions and shoots and while only covering 1k miles, it still drives and feels brand new.
There have been a few 'own goals' our end which is the case with developing anything new. The push-clips we're so familiar with using in the T5 / T6 for lining panels... Turns out they're too long for the T7 and painfully, the van now adorns a few tiny little dints from where these clips have pressed against the outer skin. It's also missing a front right ABS arch trim.
Aside from the wear and tear mentioned above, it is as new.
The conversion is designed to be light and very functional for daily use but also trips further afield.
It's big enough to load motorbikes, boards, and not loose the function of van-duties, while also serving as a contemporary rolling home with a Renology leisure battery setup along with a Lithium battery powering rear lights, reading lights and an inverter allowing UK 3 pin plug for rolling-office duties. The bench top flips over into a double bed along with two large slide-out drawers.
The conversion houses an over-arch water tank and pump with a shower hose for washing feet, boards, bikes / yourself etc....
Its sound deadened, insulated and carpet lined with a mixture if Hexa and Birch ply allowing it to feel like a Scandinavian room rather than a dingy cave.
These T7's have a had a bit of stick for not being legit VW's however, 5 mins behind the wheel of this van and you'll grin. It sips fuel, goes like hell, and is as luxurious as any car. It come with a 5 year warranty, you'll be the first owner, and you're welcome to a £500 S+S voucher to kit it out with any goodies you want to throw at it.
